It’s great because it’s “new”.
Tribute to Peggy
The first moment Peggy replaces Draper’s old assistant and the show gets interesting. There was already Midge who was the epitome of the new woman. Doing it for herself and indulging in the process. She clearly has Draper’s respect. Perhaps they had some previous work experience. Considering Don I don’t know where else he meets women other than the office. They sure come quickly. I digress. Peggy has now become the new woman after starting as a supressed normal subdued drab woman. No matter how well Weiner writes these characters they all become cartoony at times. There is something authentic to it.
After Elisabeth’s great performance on SNL it is no wonder that she and Fred got together. I think the only reason that Saturday night live has stayed so funny is that the studio is actually still stuck in 1975. With myriads of mirrors and straws and enough funny material to confuse these memorizers to stay up for the entire week. After watching 30 Rock I don’t believe these people have apartments even. I guess that one guy would have to go home to get different hats. No. I bet he could have a box and removeable letters. Oh wait that’s right these are all fictional characters, right?
